Mechanical keyboards are gaining more and more popularity not only among gamers but also among ordinary PC users. This is facilitated by the constant cost reduction combined with new bright and non-standard design solutions. Glorious GMMK - Full-Size Mechanical Keyboard (Pre-Built) belongs to a relatively inexpensive solution with a "skeleton" design. It looks strict and solid and harmoniously fits even into the office of high-ranking officials. Otherwise, the Glorious black keyboard has all the characteristic features of a mechanical keyboard - long key travel, clear pressing with a characteristic sound, processing of all simultaneously pressed keys, and much more.
A Glorious GMMK keyboard with Gateron Blue switches was provided for review, and a version with Gateron Brown switches is also available for review.

The keyboard comes in a small cardboard box painted in the company's corporate colors. The box contains the main characteristics, and there is a picture of the external view of the keyboard. There is also a small sticker indicating which switches are used in this instance. Recall that there are two options: “blue" Gateron Blue switches and "brown" Gateron Brown.

The delivery set is ascetic: there is nothing except the keyboard itself, a guarantee, and a small instruction. The installation of software for controlling the backlight or other keyboard functions is not assumed either. All actions are programmed into the keyboard memory and are selected by a specific key combination.
Appearance of Glorious GMMK Mechanical Keyboard
The keyboard case is made of plastic with an anodized metal plate over which the keys rise. This plate gives a lot of weight and strength to the keyboard; the surface is matte black. The company logo is located above the navigation keys, and the standard indicators NumLock, CapsLock and ScrollLock are located above the block of numeric keys. The fourth indicator is responsible for indicating the recording of its backlight profile.
The Glorious GMMK Mechanical Keyboard uses a standard "American" layout with a long Shift, a standard bottom row, and no offset F-keys. Next to the right Alt is the Fn function key, with the Glorious logo used to control the keyboard backlighting and the F-keys to launch multimedia capabilities. There are no additional multimedia or specialized keys.

On the back of the keyboard, on a plastic case, there are rubberized keyboard legs. Extendable legs allow the device to be raised and tilted comfortably. The legs have a secure grip on almost any surface. The. Eachbecause. Thisrd does not slip. Despite the lack of a center leg, Glorious GMMK Black Ice does not flex even when you press hard on the spacebar - all thanks to a durable aluminum plate that stiffens the keyboard case.
The elastic cable, 1.6 meters long, is covered with a durable fabric braid. USB 2.0 is enough for connection.
If you remove the key, you can see the blue switches - Gateron Blue. A transparent housing around the switch is required for backlighting. The keyboard is lit in only one color - white.
All long keys are equipped with Cherry-type stabilizers, which allows the key to be triggered even if the key is pressed at the very edge of the key.
Keycaps are made of ABS plastic using Double-Shot Injection technology (method of double molding), each key is illuminated separately. The symbols on them will never be erased, at least until the key itself is completely destroyed. This is due to the fact that the symbols on it are not applied with paint, but represent another layer of transparent plastic, which is pressed into the body of the keycaps themselves under high pressure. The solution is durable and is found mainly in premium keyboards. As for the backlighting, this type of keycap perfectly transmits light and scatters it a little, which improves the backlighting of both Arabic and English characters. The downside of this technology is the almost complete unreadability of characters with the backlight turned off. But even at the minimum brightness of the backlight, the keys are readable without problems.
A total of 3 levels of backlight brightness and 8 preset schemes are available, including both static (backlighting of the entire keyboard or individual zones - 8 preset schemes and the ability to create 2 of your own schemes) and dynamic. To select static, you need to use the key combinations FN + 1-8, and to switch dynamic - FN + Ins. The shortcut keys FN + Down / Up Arrow change the brightness of the backlight, and FN + Right / Left arrow changes the speed of the dynamic backlight effect.
Usage
For the keyboard to work, simply plug it into a USB port on your computer. The drivers will be installed automatically, but there is no specialized software at all.

Gateron Blue switches have a characteristic click when pressed and a noticeable tactile threshold in the middle of the key travel, the required pressure for triggering the switch is 55g. The switches are loud, the loudest Gateron switches available. They are most suitable for typing when you need to know for sure that a trigger has occurred. Naturally, these switches are also great for gaming, with a claimed 50 million-click life. It is worth noting that Gateron switches are considered more successful by advanced enthusiasts than the original Cherry switches. Their main advantage is that they have a soft and linear ride, without unnecessary friction, like the old classic Cherry.
Typing on the keyboard is comfortable, after a short time getting used to it, it becomes clear when a key is triggered, which avoids false presses or key failures. And this has a great effect on the speed of typing. In general, typing with this keyboard can be compared to using a typewriter, if someone else remembers what it is and how it works. The loud sound of the keys can cause discontent among people around you, this effect is especially pronounced in the silence of the night, so you should take this into account when choosing a keyboard.
For greater convenience of the gameplay, it is possible to block the Windows key, which is carried out by pressing the FN + left WIN key combination. The shape of the key is standard, it is slightly concave in the center, the body is high, made of ABS plastic. The letters are in the upper part of the keycap: Latin - top left, Cyrillic - slightly to the right and below.
conclusions
Glorious GMMK is a mechanical keyboard with a simple, pleasant design without any frills. You won't find additional multimedia keys or RGB lighting here. However, this does not prevent the keyboard from fulfilling its main role - comfortable typing, accurate operation. Glorious Keyboard is equipped with high-quality mechanical switches and bright backlighting, and multimedia functions are performed by pressing key combinations.
The keyboard is based on Gateron's Glorious microswitches, which are essentially Cherry MX clones. The main advantage of this keyboard can be considered its cost - for an amount in the region of 5500 ryals, and youThirdEach because-size high-quality mechanical keyboard with good switches and a high-quality design. It is difficult to identify any disadvantages, except for the lack of multimedia keys, there is nothing to complain about.
